Besakih Mother Temple
Pura Besakih, also known as Pura Agung Besakih, is the largest and holiest temple for Balinese Hindus. Located in Besakih Village, Rendang District, Karangasem Regency, Bali, this temple is located on the slopes of Mount Agung.

Structure: Pura Besakih consists of Pura Penataran Agung as the central temple and 18 companion temples. Pura Penataran Agung has three main shrines called Padma Tiga, symbols of the stana of Tri Purusha (Shiva, Sada Shiva, and Parama Shiva).
Spiritual Importance: For the Balinese, visiting Pura Besakih is a special pilgrimage. This temple is considered as “Huluning Bali Rajya” or the soul of the Island of Bali.
Rules: Visitors are required to wear cloth and shawls when entering the temple area. Women who are menstruating are not allowed to enter.
